This Unit shows us that the receptive skills are listening and reading, because learners do not need to produce language to do these, they receive and understand it. And are contrasted with the productive or active skills of speaking and writing. All are important, the idea is to apply them in balance during a lesson, even though we sometimes want to focus in an specific skill. This Unit was centered on receptive skills. And the motives to read and listen are different according to our needs. How we do this depend of our ears and eyes but there is something more and its our minds, the ability of it to recognize words or meaning based on pre-existing knowledge plays an importat roll.
