Despite being a more "theory" based class, I am surprised that this unit didn't go into more detail regarding things like punctuation or spelling. I find that punctuation still makes people slip up ("yours" being used for possession, not "your's," the contracted form of "could have" ("could've") making people think that it is actually "could of," the difference between "stationary" and "stationery," "compliment" and "complement", etc). While the assumption is that the people taking this course have a strong grasp on the English language, those are little things that aren't normally thought about too much, until they're standing at the front of the class, potentially teaching mistakes.
Otherwise, this was a nice complement to the previous lesson -- covering the motives behind speaking and writing, any difficulties behind doing those activities, and how to best promote those skills within the classroom!
