Much of what was presented I have already been trying to do with gestures gestures, clapping, singing, tongue twisters. Clapping and stretching stressed words help the students establish correct pronunciation. I think the phonemic chart was useful and interesting but not as important as rules for stress and linked speech. Students often come to class and read and pronounce individual words. Then they are surprised when given examples of linked speech sounding so different from how it is written. Obviously it's important to teach correct pronunciation of individual words, but I think this aspect of linked speech should really be stressed a lot more in this method and others, perhaps even more than the phonemic alphabet.
