Unit Teaching New Language: Vocabulary, Grammar and functions. Vocabulary can be defined as words known to a person or words used in a particular language. Grammar maybe defined as a set of rules that should be followed in any given language and its purpose. In acquiring or teaching any new language there are some basic grassroots that the learner needs:
1. they must be exposed to it
2. understand its meaning
3. understand how it is constructed
4. be able to practise and use it.
However, when teaching a new language we must take into consideration the types of learners we have such as, their learning styles and the level at which they are at.
In this unit some main key features that we re highlighted to me are teaching vocabulary and the techniques used in delivering instructions to the learners.
Another important feature in this unit was introducing grammar and the techniques used at the different stages of the lesson. The use of language function is important as it incorporates the following functions inviting, refusing or suggesting just to name a few. language function may also be formal or informal.
