This unit taught the phonetic alphabet, how intonation is used in everyday speech, parts of mouth/throat used when making sounds and the phonetic alphabet. It gave the different classifications of ways that different sounds are spoken and gave examples.
I found this unit especially challenging and useful. I learnt a lot about the science of speech in the ways our mouth, tongue, lips and throat are used when speaking. I also had to become reacquainted with the phonetic alphabet which I've always had trouble with.
