The unit covers past tenses of verbs, which reflect the structure given for the present tenses of verbs. There are some easily confused tenses such as present perfect and past perfect, which have similar structure (has versus had) and reference to past but with different uses. Activation stages useful for past tenses include detective stories, writing about famous actors or writer's achievements, discussions about what we did yesterday or last week, and pair work answering simple questions like what did you do yesterday.
