In this unit I learned about the different teaching styles that have influenced the current TEFL framework, such as the silent way, and about the three main stages of ESA and how they are appropriately used in various class structures, as well as further considerations when using this structure at each phase. I also learned about how and when to correct in the ESA framework (mainly in the study phase. I was also given many different activities to pick from for each stage of the lesson and their appropriate usage for different levels of English learners, such as debate only being appropriate for high-intermediate to advanced learners. There are also recommendations about correction from the student themselves and other students before the teacher interjects. This was unit extremely informative and has set me up for further application of teaching methods and understanding of the needs of students.
