The four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing are used by everyone on daily basis. None of them are less important than the others. This unit is focusing on the receptive skills: listening and reading. It’s good to know the differences between why we receive the language: for a purpose, or for entertainment. For different motives, students may use different methods: predicting, scanning, skimming, getting details, deducing, etc. We can also let our students know anout it, to improve the listening and reading efficiency.
