Unit 9 first delved into the various theories as to why lesson plans are made. The three main points as to why they exist are to aid in planning a lesson, provide a working document, and to provide a physical record of what was covered in previous lessons. How a lesson plan should be written, being organized, and what should be included in a lesson plan were also covered. Items that should be included in a lesson plan are as follows: learner objectives, personal aims, language points, teaching aids, anticipated problems (for the teachers and the students), procedures, phases, timing, interaction, class level, number of students, date/time, and teacher's and observer's names.
