This unit talks about the methodologies of teaching English. There are nine different ways to teaching English: grammar-translation, audio-lingualism, PPP, task-based learning, CLT, CLL, the silent way, suggestopaedia, and the Lexical approach. In here, there is no methodology better than another. Just depend on the condition during the classes and students. ESA is the useful and efficient method which can motivate students to learn English. It contains three phases: engage, study, and activate. In this method, it pretty flexible to arrange the order for E, S, and A, but it has one rule need to follow is ‘always start from engage and finish with activate’. There also provide some interested game for each phase. For example, memory games for engage phase, hangman for study phase, and role-play for activate phase. Giving feedback is important which can know the activities are successful or not. The really important point is always let student correct by themselves rather than help them immediately. From this unit, I learnt different methodologies for teaching, how to arrange the course, and the limit for correcting student.
