Planning lessons is an important part of teaching process. In my own experience I would always write a short lesson plan a.k.a. "jot notes' and I would spend at least 2 hours before the lesson, to make sure that I have prepared everything, also I would write down some of the potentially new/difficult words, look up the definitions, most of the time I could more or less guess what kind of questions would my students ask. I think lesson planning is also important as it gives the teacher confidence. In my opinion, there are two things which can give a teacher confidence : 1) experience 2) thorough preparation for the lesson (lesson plan). Thank you for clarifying some of the things that I wasn't sure of, it makes a lot of sense now
