After learning the present tenses, the past tenses are easier to understand. But it is quite difficult to memorize all the irregular verbs. As a teacher, it is really challenging to teach these to students effectively. More interactive activities may help, but simple drilling and handouts are definitely necessary for remembering the massive vocabulary, together with the proper communication. Students need to say all of them a lot to get familiar.
