Unit #15 was pretty straightforward but was still very informative. Looking back on my education, I can remember taking placement tests, progress tests, and diagnostics tests, so the methods employed for those types of testing were nothing new. However, I never knew that there were so many external examinations that tested English proficiency. Most notably, I was shocked by how many exams there are for the Cambridge Assessment. Personally, it seems unnecessary because the USA seems to manage with the TOEFL alone, but it's hard to argue with Cambridge's expertise as a world leader in education. I also found it odd the TOEIC could be hard for even a native-speaker of English, but I can understand that there may be some jargon and pragmatics that make the skills necessary for international business more demanding. I'll look forward to seeing what the demands will be of my parent institution and what students will require from their educators to prepare them for any number of the discussed examinations.
