This unit elaborates upon the concept of teaching receptive skills. When learning a new language it is still a vital part of embracing the language when one can understand what is being said. Whether in reading or listening to someone you want to be able to understand the information being conveyed. Communication works two ways and if a student is unable to do so. Then, as a teacher, we would not be successfully assisting the students in obtaining the proper skills. As long as we understand and convey that receptive skills are still a foundation of what contributes to successfully learning a new language the students we teach will hopefully gain the right knowledge.
