Unit #13 was much shorter than the other units, but the review of many points detailing the advantages and disadvantages of course books helped me see where adjustments to lessons and materials may be necessary. The part about authentic materials was interesting because it inspired me to look at some of the materials that are in my everyday life and imagine what language points I could use them to teach. I'd say the authentic materials section was the most informative because I learned that there are a plethora of materials in everyday life that can be used to give examples that reinforce a lesson. Some aspects of the unit I found troubling because the proposed solutions may not be an option for me if I get hired by a corporation that supplements their own lessons and course books. In that situation, I would be forced to adhere to the materials presented to me, and my ability to omit, replace, supplement, and adapt may be severely limited, if not impossible. However, I still found the points useful and will keep them in mind when teaching in the future.
