In this unit several types of methodologies were briefly introduced. The methodology of ESA or engage, study, and activate was broken down into a much more in-depth explanation of technique. Understanding that this course focuses on using this method because it is the most effective for new teachers to put to use in the classroom. This unit goes into deep discussion of the three sections of the ESA teaching method, explaining the purpose of each portion. The purpose of the engage portion of this method is to start the talking and thinking process in English, warming up the students to their new adventure. The study portion is where the real learning and absorption begins, this is where borad work is used to elicite teaching and where the teacher needs to be aware that their students are understanding what is being taught so that they can go on to activities to practice and use this new knowledge. Lastly the purpose of the activate portion is where the students knowledge is used in a realistic manner, the way the language would actually be used in real life scenarios.
