This unit covers receptive skills which are listening and reading. Used for entertainment or for a purpose reading and listening are done with a variety of skills, predictive skills, scanning, and skimming. Problems can arise in receptive skills so this unit covers two things done to help with that which are pre-teaching vocabulary and selection of text. Keeping students motivated and engaged should be priority and can be done with topics of interest and tasks. A brief patchwork lesson is briefly discussed.
