As I have never taught in a classroom setting before this unit helped me to better understand how to manage a class. Before this unit i never thought about establishing rapport with my students or how to even do that. I learned multiple things that, looking back on school when i was a student, i saw other teachers doing some of the things this unit is telling me not to do. Now, reading about these nuisances in this section makes me realize why i did not like seeing the teacher doing these things when i was a student. For example, it is important to not have your back to the students too much when writing on the chalkboard. It always bothered me as a student but now after this section i realize it is because the teacher is not speaking to the class but the wall. I am excited to use these new skills I have read about into practice in a real classroom setting.
