The content of this unit dealt with troubleshooting when teachers run into issues in the classroom. Some of the most common issues are what to do in the first lessons, in which it is recommended to focus on building rapport with the students and not immediately using the course book or teaching difficult material. Some other problems are large class size, students being at different levels, and reluctant students. All of these are issues that can be solved with some troubleshooting, as covered in this unit. The biggest takeaway for me in this lesson was that it is very important for the teacher to build rapport be friendly, and use warmers when starting a class. This engages the students and sets the tone for the entire class, so that they feel comfortable and confident in learning and participating.
