From this unit I learned many things to consider while managing a classroom of English learners. This unit covered items which I had not even considered before, such as when the teacher should be standing or seated, the organization of the desks, and the strategies behind which pairings to use for groups. I learned that the students' demographics (such as age, nationality, and personality) should be considered when organizing the desks. Additionally, I learned that it is important to create good rapport with the class through teacher talk time, but that teacher talk time has its specific uses (such as rapport, giving clear examples and instructions), but should not be overused so that the students have ample time to practice speaking English themselves.
