I found the characterization of a good teacher and learner quite helpful. I think I can already be a strong teacher in some areas, but there are areas for improvement. These values of a good teacher will help me improve in specific areas. The distinction of the roles of a teacher were equally helpful. Here too, I found I lean towards a few roles. As this unit stated, however, it is important to know all of the roles and when to use them to be the most effective teacher. The differentiation between students based on age group was also helpful. I will be teaching students between 14 and 18 so it was important to learn that they will be less motivated and more afraid to fail than other young learners. I will need to find out how to best motivate and encourage these students.
