In this unit, the focus was on conditionals and reported speech. Conditionals can be categorized into five categories: zero conditional, first conditional, second conditional, third conditional, or mixed conditional. Each conditional has a different usage and can be explained in a different manner. Reported speech was also explored, and they can be created based on the direct speech. The reported speech can be seen as 'backshifting' from the direct speech.
From this unit, I was able to learn about how conditionals are formed and the different types of conditionals that exist in English. Each conditional form is different and may be easy for students to confuse, hence it is important to clarify their structure and usage as best as possible. I also learned more thoroughly about how reported speeches are created from direct speech, and how they should be structured to be grammatically correct.
