As same as present tenses, Past tenses have a system and structure to describe past actions and situations. Past simple tense used to express completed actions in the past at a definite time. It says ordering action. Past continuous indicates that a certain action was in progress at a particular time in the past. Past perfect refers to a past action and a related past action before that. Past perfect continuous is continuing action in the past up until an action in the past. We often confuse with past tense and present perfect tense and sometimes even in the same past tense, we don’t know which structure is correct in it. To avoid this confusion, teacher has to know about this system very well and about which part students feel difficulty. Teacher has to try to make it very clear and simple and give them best example and lots of practice.
