In this unit, the equipment and teaching aids available for teachers to use in a classroom setting was explored. In particular, the options of using the board, an interactive whiteboard, an overhead projector, visual aids, worksheets and work cards, a cassette recorder, a CD player, videos and DVDs, video cameras, dictionaries, course books, resource books, photocopiers, computers, and online resources were explained, and each of their usages and how they can help aid in the learning of students of a second language was understood.
Based on the information provided in this unit, I learned about the variety of tools and equipment that can be used during a lesson to help improve the flow of the class and to make it more lively and active. Teachers should try to use a variety of tools in their teaching to helps students learn in different manners. By using a combination of ways to teach, students will also feel more inclined to listen as the class will be more engaging and interesting for them to learn.
