This unit reviewed the methodology and techniques of teaching English as a Foreign Language, as well as each technique's pros and cons. I learned a lot about various approaches, but the "Engage, Study, and Activate" (ESA) model was covered most thoroughly. The ESA approach can be modified so that you could teach in a different order, for example: Engage - Activate - Study - Activate, which in this case would aid the teacher in what the students already know about English. This unit also gave abundant examples of classroom activities and tools for each ESA section, which will be extremely useful once I develop a lesson plan (for example, an Engagement activity could be Word Linking to get the classroom warmed up with a fun game using English). Additionally, I learned about how and when to make corrections, and that the last resort should be teacher intervention, as it is better to let the student, or other students, assist in the correction first.
