Unit 20 discussed troubleshooting in the classroom. It began with a discussion on how to conduction the first lesson in order to establish rapport with the students, discover the students' needs and interests and to discover the level of each individual student. It discussed activities that the teach can use to accomplish the goals of the initial class. Next, the lesson discussed warmer activities such as Pictionary, Hangman and memory games. This was followed by a discussion on teaching a group where the students are at varying levels. The lesion then discussed the topic of teaching large classes and gave some strategies for managing large classes and a review of teaching a monolingual class. Again, the lesson discussed limiting the amount that the students speaks in their native tongue and not using their native language to address them during the lesson. This lesson was a good review of the things I had learned in previous lessons and did present some new strategies for problems the teacher may encounter. For example, appointing class leaders to help the teacher manage large classes and strategies for building rapport with new students.
