This unit was another review unit for me. I am already familiar with the concept of tenses, but it was useful to have an overview of each of the moods of the past tense in English. This unit covered the past simple, past perfect, past continuous, and past perfect continuous. For each of these it covered form, which was very similar to the present tense moods except the verbs and auxiliaries were in their past tense forms. It also covered usage, common student mistakes, and teaching ideas for the activate phase of an ESA lesson plan. I found the overview of the usage of the past perfect continuous very useful, as the unit notes, it is not something that is often taught. I also continue to find the common student mistakes and lesson ideas very, very helpful to developing my teaching skills.
