Unit 14 covered the emotive and sometimes controversial topic of teaching using coursebooks and lesson materials. Using coursebooks has both disadvantages and benefits. For example, coursebooks teach to a broad audience, rather than a specific audience. Also, some of the material may be irrelevant. However, some benefits of using coursebooks include true and tested material. My biggest takeaway from this unit is that I should not rely solely on coursebooks; rather, I should use them as a guide.
