Both teachers and learners are equally important in the classroom. The teacher ideally will have all, or at least most, of the attributes of a good teacher, such as kindness, patience, a love of teaching, a good grasp of the English language, a positive and friendly personality, a good rapport with the students, and the ability to assess and correct students gently and respectfully. Learners will ideally have their contribution of a desire to learn, experiment, read, ask questions and participate in activities. Teachers must remember that they are important, but not more important than their students, and must regard the culture of the students with respect and honor. They need to set a good example to the students by being positive, attentive, prompt, and respectful to each one in the classroom. As the students learn, they will pass through six levels of learning, from Basic to Advanced. But of course, even at the Advanced level, there is always more to learn!
