This unit brought together many of the key concepts outlined in previous units. The main focus appeared to be connecting the ESA lesson structure to the different aspects of language acquisition. The explanation of which lesson structure (straight arrow, patchwork, boomerang) is most effective at teaching each component of new language (grammar, vocabulary, language functions) was especially helpful. It makes sense that patchwork lessons focusing mainly on the activate stage would be best to solidify student understanding of a new language function (specifically role-play) as it focus on production and utilization of language concepts in a "real world" context.
