This unit focuses on the importance of managing the classroom through a variety of means. It emphasises the need to assert and relax control depending on the section of the lesson and the activities being used. It also repeatedly asserts that student talk time, or having the students actively participating is essential to their learning. Student participation and behaviour is, at least partially, dependent on the teacher. Dealing with behavioural issues is both complicated and important.
I found the section on behavioural issues very interesting and full of helpful suggestions. Having multiple suggestions is a great resource to have as every situation is different and tactics that worled for one student won't necessarily work for the other.
I also found the sections on the teachers gestures, position, and voice very intriguing. It is not an aspect of teaching I had previously considered very deeply.
