This unit introduces a basic knowledge level to identify the parts of speech which a teacher has to face with during his/her teaching years. A teacher should be able to classify each word in a sentence, according to its purpose and the meaning it adds. Parts of speech can be classified as noun, adjective, article, verb, adverb, gerund, pronoun, preposition and conjunction. Each of the parts has its own rules to be applied. However, there are also some irregular aspects that need learners to learn by heart which mades some learners find it hard to study English. By understanding the roles of each component in the sentence, we are not only able to provide proper English to our students but also help them to overcome the basic difficulties of studying English grammar, thus providing a stronger foundation to their upper levels.
