This unit talks about the two equally important receptive skills - reading and listening. What I personally derived from the unit is that reading is just not about reading the text superficially but preparing the ground for reading, comprehending the text and then reproducing it that is surely a test of one's understanding of the content. Another feature that surfaced is the concept of pre-existent knowledge that can completely change the interpretation of the same text by two different readers. How can reading and listening be made engaging and fun filled through proper ESA lesson planning, even if the students have no idea about the topic they are going to read has been of great help. In addition to this, the skills that one may be equipped with for reading and listening were listed.
