This unit touches on the various methodologies of language teaching, often giving examples of their pros and cons. I liked how the unit clearly concluded that not one methodology alone is correct or popular to use, many can be used. In addition it summarized key points to remember while teaching students a new language such as always encouraging, giving students as much exposure and opportunity to use the language as possible etc. This unit also went into detail regarding this course's main teaching method, ESA (Engage, Study Activate) and it proves to be very effective in terms of gaining student interest and engagement, how to structure a lesson, which types of lessons are good for particular levels of students and gave many examples for activities and ways to teach a class. Finally it touched on correction and error, lesson planning and the task sheet helped me review the various concepts presented in the text. Overall I got a good sense and starting point for teaching methods and the detailed explanaitions gave me better and more specific insight into how students can be taught, encouraged and engaged in a lesson.
