In this unit we looked at the importance of productive skills: speaking and writing. They both are used to communicate. It is true to say that writing is a most neglected skill (in the TEFL world) and most students prefer to focus on their speaking skills. But that doesn’t mean that writing should be ignored. Writing is the more difficult skill, requiring more accuracy. Speaking requires more fluency because the speaker seldom has time to think and plan the answer.
