Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

At the beginning of this unit, it mentioned the reasons why the teaching of pronunciation is often neglected by teachers. Then, it introduced the definition of intonation and stress. As for normal patterns of intonation, they are mainly rise/fall and fall/rise intonation. Besides, also showed me some corresponding examples to express what they can be indicated. In addition to these, learned several techniques for indicating and teaching intonation as well, like nonsense words, gesture, humming, singing and board. More importantly, turned to focus on stress on different syllables and got to know some parts of speech are normally unstressed. Meanwhile, we can use contrastive stress, choral work, stress marks and so on to indicate and teach. Next, we have known four ways that can join sounds together, such as linking, sound dropping, sound changing and extra lettering. From the phonemic symbols, have got familiar with consonants that are voiced and unvoiced and kinds of vowels. In the following part, particularly, pay more attention to place of articulation, mainly introduced -Velar, Palatal, Alveolar, Dental and so on; at the same time, have got manners of articulation and their respective examples, including a chart that combines place and manner of articulation together. Lastly, can use peer dictation, our own mouth ,mouth of diagrams and tongue twisters for helping students pronounce individual words.
