This unit describes the importance and different types of assessments. Assessment is the most direct way for teachers to a students control of the target language and allows for teachers to give students feedback on their understanding. Students can also give feedback to the teacher about the course, which helps make the students feel involved in the trajectory of the course. The different types of tests are placement test (to place students in appropriate level), progress test (to gauge progress), diagnostic test (to get initial sense of language acquisition), practice tests (to prepare for external exams), and external exams (to gauge fluency by outside party).
