Most meaningful portions of the lesson focused on (1) the pros and cons of using authentic versus created material and (2) some of the limitations of using a standard coursebook. I would tend to utilize authentic materials, such as newspaper articles to get the more advanced and mature learners not just to develop and test their understanding but to also get them more engaged with community issues. Regarding the standard coursebooks, the need to adapt and complement with outside materials would be necessary much of the time.
