In this unit we learned about what it takes to be both a good teacher and a good learner. It also went over the different types of stages students may fall in. As a teacher, it is our responsibility to understand and utilize all of the roles in this unit. Going over these roles made me think about how the utilization will be different in these types of courses. We need to also understand the level that our students are at, in addition to the other factors such as age, culture, and experiences that will affect their learning. Comprehending these factors will help us choose what roles to use and when. For example, if we are dealing with a learner who is a young beginner then it is best to take roles that will help keep the learner interested as their attention spans are shorter. In this situation, taking on the role of manager too often may harm the class's learning.
