I learnt that being able to speak English properly can help teaching English. I guess we need memorize the rules table which tense turns to what tense. Also during speech as a English speaker, we kind of know how things work but when going to details we understand the structue much more clear. Reporting speeches can also be a bit challenging for the new learners, therefore as a teacher we need to be patient and try to correct the students after we teach them the rules.
