Pointing at a student in the class is NOT an example of a good use of gestures. One of the disadvantages of whole-class grouping is that it can reduce student talk time. Shouting so as to show annoyance with students is NOT a useful response to problem behavior. Asking a follow-up question of students responses would probably NOT increase the opportunity for student talk time. Always echoing students' responses is NOT a good justification for teacher talk time.
