Unit 6 tells us all about tenses What I learned? All continuous forms feature some from of the verb ‘to be’ plus the ‘ing’ form of the ver. If the verb ‘to be’ is in the present, it will be present continuous. If it is in the past, it will be past continuous. All perfect forms feature some form of the verb ‘to have’ and the past participle form of the verb. If the verb ‘to have’ is in the present it will be present perfect. If it in the past, it is past perfect. All perfect continuous forms feature forms of ‘to have’, plus ‘been’ plus the ‘ing’ form of the verb. A Regular Verb is a verb following the normal pattern of inflection. The general rule is that regular verbs form the past tense by adding -ed". On the contrary, irregular verbs are verbs that do not follow the normal pattern of inflection. Eg. See-saw, write- wrote. The past continuous describes actions or events in a time before now, which began in the past and is still going on at the time of speaking. In other words, it expresses an unfinished or incomplete action in the past. The past perfect tense indicates that an action was completed (finished or "perfected") at some point in the past before something else happened. This tense is formed with the past tense form of "to have" (HAD) plus the past participle of the verb (which can be either regular or irregular in form).
