Speaking is probably the most common motivation and benchmark of language improvement while writing is often the neglected aspect of the language. The long silence during writing lessons has mostly been a big disadvantage to its teaching. Its easier to create an interesting speaking class and hence draws more attention and makes it an easier and common choice.
