In this lesson I learned the dramatic difference the teachers attitude and lesson plan can have on a class. In the first video the teacher is very impatient, unfriendly and talks very fast. He doesn't introduce himself or make an attempt to learn any of the students names. He starts off by jumping straight into the lesson, using large words and asking questions that students cannot answer and then continues to ask more. He also doesn't seem to have any structure to the lesson which makes it difficult for him to relay the information. As well, the students don't get to talk very much and work individually on the task he provides. In the second video the teacher starts off by introducing himself and learning the names of everyone in the class. Before coming into class he has written up some word problems on the board to start off the lesson with a warm up containing language they are familiar with. He sets a ground for his topic with this and uses it to transition into the main lesson. This warmup also gets the students to let him know what they already know about the topic they are discussing. He involves all of students in lesson individually and gets good responses without making them feel pressured or uneasy. He is very positive, flexible, and smiles a lot during the class which makes the students feel more comfortable answering questions. He leads into a worksheet by asking a sample question directly from it to ensure the students comprehend the material. He distributes the worksheet in pairs so that the all students have the chance to speak with each other and questions can be answered by the teacher if needed. It is clear to see the second video is a giant improvement from the first one in all aspects. The teacher exhibits all of the correct and useful behaviors in video two.
