I learned in this unit that the attitude of the teacher is huge. Students are easily discouraged in class participation if they feel that the teacher is impatient with them or if the teacher embarrasses them by correcting mistakes in an Engage phase. Since it is so important to keep students talking and participating in activities so that they can practice speaking the language, the teacher needs to do everything they can to help support their students participate. Disciplining any sort of disruptive behavior is understandable, but if it begins to take away any time from the students who are actively participating in class, then it should be saved for after class in private. Also, it is important to speak calmly and clearly, especially in a Study phase, because you could tell in the first video that the teacher seemed rushed just by the pace of his voice, and it added to the overall confusion and discouragement of the students.
