After finishing this lesson I learned how complex English pronunciation can actually be. It might be one of the subjects that I'll need to continuously review. The main parts of pronunciation are the intonation and stress. Intonation relates to the entirety of the sentence while stress relates to individual words. We can teach intonation by drawing the rise fall patterns on the board, by gesturing or humming. There are many ways of stressing a word depending on the spelling and number of syllables in the word. It can also be taught using the board to draw or underline words. The phonology may be difficult and tedious to teach. However understanding the way that the tongue and mouth work to form a sound has given me a better understanding which will help me teach it. I think visuals and my own mouth would be the better option to help teach the students pronunciation. Phonemes were even a little complicated for me as a native speaker to get a grip on.
