I learned that different types of roles teachers assume, and that a good teacher is able to play them all depending on the situation. I learned Korean best when my professors played the prompter, participant, facilitator, model and observer roles. Their role as a controller was very minimal and only played when explaining new grammar. I learned that the ESL programs I will be teaching at will require me to use a lot of drawing, games, singing and tactical tools to teach English. This unit stated that Asian students often tend to be uncreative and lack a willingness to participate, but from the videos on EPIK that I've seen, students actively participate. I think instilling confidence in these students is key to getting them to participate and feel safe enough to make mistakes and use English creatively.
