I learned from this unit different styles of teaching and how to best correct students so that they stay motivated and encouraged to experiment with the language. It's important to learn all of the teaching techniques, regardless of how effective they are if used alone in the classroom, because they can all be used in moderation in TEFL's preferred teaching style of ESA. For example, Audio-Lingualism teaching may not be the best way to teach an entire language or even a single topic, but if it is used as a speech drill during the Study stage of ESA, it would be helpful especially to A1 students that know very few words in the new language. It's also very important to know when to correct students and how to correct them, so that they can grow and improve their new language skills. Especially at the higher levels like B2 and C1 students, where accuracy is improved but fluency is still an issue, it's important to remember to simply let the students practice that fluency during any Engage activity or role playing.
