This unit deals with the different types of learners we can encounter as teachers. In my job, I primarily deal with students who are 14 - 18. They are in the United States to go to school and are typically highly motivated. I found this unit to be very informative. I can use some of the principles found in every group that was discussed in this lesson. While I rarely deal with absolute beginners, I do deal with students who, while proficient at reading, are almost beginners at speaking. I also deal with two main L1's, and figuring out the balance of allowing them to help each other in their first languages versus insisting on them using English, has been a learning curve.
