This unit has been very helpful in allowing me to understand how to use different materials such as a textbook or other materials such as created materials or authentic materials. I can use authentic materials if I want to increase the confidence of my students. If they can see the practical application of the language they are learning, they will feel confident that they are truly making progress. If I use created materials, I can tailor the materials to achieve specific learning outcomes. If I use a textbook I can rely on a more structured material and allows the students to see their progress throughout the course.
